Lead Translator

HSW International is a NASDAQ-listed company localizing the award-winning HowStuffWorks.com website content to emerging markets. HSW International China is seeking an experienced translator to lead our translation/localization team. We are seeking a motivated and talented self-starter who can thrive in a fast-paced work environment.

Position Purpose：

The lead translator position will work within the translation/localization group under the supervision of the director of production to translate English content into Chinese and localize it to fit the Chinese culture and market.

Responsibilities：

  • Lead the translation/localization team to ensure quality of translation
  • Supervise and train junior translators
  • Maintain a translation memory database of commonly used proper names and other linguistic items
  • Translate Web content from English to Chinese or vise versa
  • Proof-read other translators’ work

Qualifications：

  • At least five years’ experience as a translator working in a translation company, news agency or other translation-related company
  • Extensive knowledge with translation software and translation memory
  • Knowledge of web design and editing a plus
  • Unquestionable ethical standards. A tending to perfectionism. Very organized and a commitment to team deadlines and goals. Flexible and open to feedback and constructive criticism
